Ever have one of those days?….

Filed under: Uncategorized — robtheblogger @ 8:35 am

…when you simply can’t seem to get a handle on everything?

I’m grateful I have plenty to do (hate being bored!), but today is one of those days where I start to do something and suddenly think of 28 other things to do.

Including making a blog post.

Done!

(no one said it had to be a GREAT blog post…)

So, I finally get my life organized enough to get the first page of my RobTheArranger website up & running.  As part of the website, I see where I’m going to have a RobTheBlogger page as well.

As I’m going through my password manager program to add the various logons & passwords, I see that I’ve already created a RobTheBlogger page here at WordPress.

I don’t even recall doing it – and barely remember posting the entries below.

It’s either a sure sign of impending Alzheimer’s, or I simply need to slow down a bit.

Went down to the county tax office and paid my whopping $15 fee to register my new business name: Rob the Arranger.

Next thing I need to do is find a reasonably priced small business banking account.  So far, Wells Fargo’s terms/rates are looking the most appealing.

Survived the weekend!

It was a very busy weekend (schedule in previous post) that was made slightly more complicated by Mother Nature dumping 11 inches of snow in the Dallas-Ft Worth area over a 24 hour period last Thursday.

Nonetheless, The Walton Stout band and its intrepid keyboardist manage to slog equipment through rain, sleet, snow and gloom of night to meet all weekend entertainment responsibilities.  Much needed car wash to follow.

Here’s a brief video of part of our performance over the weekend at the Glass Cactus:

3 live performances with The Walton Stout Band this weekend!

I play keyboards and am the musical director for local Dallas coverband, The Walton Stout Band.  We have 3 live performances coming up this weekend.

Walton Stout is a 9-piece, non-stop, high-energy dance band.  It keeps me VERY busy.   Band instrumentation is 2 lead vocals (male & female), guitar, bass, drums, keyboards and 3 horn players (trumpet, trombone & sax).

Our horn section utilizes wireless microphones and will often leave the stage and join the patrons on the dance floor.  I’m lobbying to call them the Walton Stout Urban Assault Horn Section.  It’s not catching on yet, but I plan to keep lobbying.

Rob the Blogger – IT LIVES! IT LIVES!

Filed under: Uncategorized — robtheblogger @ 9:20 pm

Ok, this is my first official post as Rob the Blogger (I know – original, eh?).

As a full disclosure, Rob the Blogger is the associated blog site for Rob the Arranger. Here we’ll (I’ll) discuss the music business from the perspective of a long-time, semi-professional musician who is now going to be working quite hard to change his career focus from part-time/weekend dabbler (for fun and occasional profit) to that of a more career-minded musician (for fun and even MORE profits).

I plan to blog extensively (as time permits) on what I’m working on with regards to my musical adventures.
